I been losing loads of mail lately due to my hosting provider and I had not seen your reply, I've read now in gmane! :-/ I made a test application and, as expected, WTimer works fine. The problem was in another library (libstrigiclient) I was using: it was not emitting the signal I use to start the WTimer (there's lots of unused code in libstrigiclient!).
