If you do, would it be possible for you to have Firebug enabled and
email the contents of the last XMLHttPRequests, or any other info on
seamingly odd or circumstancial things ?

That is true. I think the best way to solve this is to allow
customization of the error handling, so that you can decide whether
you want to notify the user or solve it silently, or "disabling" the
application.
