That ticket is a year old with only two stars, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Instead of a "workaround" I am curious why the textbox starts with a
smaller height and then grows. If we could avoid that, then the issue
would be moot. I don't see that on the examples on the wt website and
don't have a c++11 compiler to build the examples locally. Thus I am not
sure if it is 3.3 in general or something specific to our environment
that is making that happen. When I get a chance I will look into this
more. Hopefully I'll figure something out before 3.3 goes stable.

This may more appropriately be something other (JavaScript) than
WItemDelegate, but it is what is revealing the issue for me.
When the editor is displayed its height is incorrect and shortly
there after some Javascript increases its height. When it does so,
chrome incorrectly renders the box cropping the bottom section of
the text.

A work around is whenever an input box is increased in size, reset
the font-family.
