Summary: ClickThrough update.exe and MAXPATH
Initial Comment:
ClickThrough install results in a shortcut being placed
on the start menu with the arguments cut off at 260
characters. Now, I should add that it seems to somehow
work, but I'm not actually sure why.
I'm using the latest (2005-01-19) build of the tools.
The actual path that was created was something like:
"C:\Documents and Settings\MyUserName\Local
Settings\Application
Data\Applications\System\update.exe" -ac
{A328C715-3A0F-476B-933F-64C8A3F1BF60} -cl
"C:\Documents and Settings\MyUserName\Local
Settings\Application
Data\Applications\a328c715-3a0f-476b-933f-64c
It should have been something like:
"C:\Documents and Settings\MyUserName\Local
Settings\Application
Data\Applications\System\update.exe" -ac
{A328C715-3A0F-476B-933F-64C8A3F1BF60} -cl
"C:\Documents and Settings\MyUserName\Local
Settings\Application
Data\Applications\a328c715-3a0f-476b-933f-64c8a3f1bf60\Model
Editor.exe"
There's actually no way this can work on a "normal"
system. Even if the username were only two characters,
your exe file would have to have a file name only 3
characters long: 123.exe .... I can post the whole .cbd
and .wxs files if it would help, but this seems pretty
reproducible ;)
