Yes, the latest version (latest revision) is accessible with only a webbrowser (HTTP/WEBDAV). The whole repository access system is much easier than CVS. As an example you can check the official repository for TortoiseSVN, (the SVN client I use daily): http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/svn/tortoisesvn/trunk/ Username: guest Password: guest As you can see it's normally browsable. This makes it easy to retrieve the latest version of a file.
