Thinking out loud…
I would like to see more frequent releases; 3 or 4 drops a year. These would
include both bug fixes and some of the feature requests addressed. I don’t
think sourceforge supports voting for features but that would be a way to
decide what to do.
The advantage is that useful changes arrive in a stable form quicker; the
disadvantage is that bug creep in and there is less focus on v4.0.

Subject: [WiX-devs] Request For Opinions: WiX v3.8 release date?
The WiX v3.7 was our first experiment with doing a very short release. Previous
releases always had some big new technology in them (usually, Burn) that made
for multi-year release schedules.
WiX v3.8 will be a bug fix release. I would like to focus the bulk of "new
feature energy" on WiX v4.0.
The question is how long should WiX v3.8 run? I'm leaning towards 6 months
with a release around the beginning of July.
I'm still getting on my feet in my new venture (http://bit.ly/UuIkJp) so I'm
not sure what my new throughput will be for a bit (could be higher [I hope],
could be lower, could be the same). That means I'm not sure how many bugs get
fixed in 6 months so I'm looking for some gut checks from people.
What do you think the WiX v3.8 release date should be?
PS: All release dates are subject to adjustment by reality but we need to start
somewhere. <smile/>
