I'm using WiX 3.0 and override the location with the following entries in my
.wixproj file:
<WixTargetsPath>$(SomeEnvVariable)\wix\3.0.3907.0\bin\Wix.targets</WixTargetsPath>
<WixToolPath>$(SomeEnvVariable)\wix\3.0.3907.0\bin</WixToolPath>
<WixTasksPath>$(WixToolPath)\wixtasks.dll</WixTasksPath>
It was a while back, but I believe I also changed the default imports line in
the project file to <Import Project="$(WixTargetsPath)" />
