Done (bug #3431068, http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3431068&group_id=105970&atid=642714) I wrote my own program to make a similar change in the registry and nothing happened, so I'm not sure why the burn engine 'provokes' Trend in that way.
