I'm pretty sure there are a few gotchas. I think the hashing (MD5 vs SHA ) was changed in 3.5 for FIPS compliance. Also I make use of Votive integration and I recall some project upgrade problems along the lines of targets files and C++ linker settings. (Certain filenames changed.)
