Windows Installer will not recognize "4.1.1.8878" as a higher version than "4.1.1.8896". However, you can write your upgrade to say "Upgrade when the version is the same". Technically speaking, I think you could write "Upgrade when the version is lower" but I don't know that anyone does that.
