A while back I was also struggling with understanding the DependencyExtension. (My razor is often dull. <smile/>) I was trying to assure that a particular version of one dependency was not removed after my bundle/packages were installed. I came across Rob's advice in the following link. Since my scenario also included a third-party dependency (vcruntime) I concluded that the DependencyExtenstion would not be useful and abandoned those efforts. I have not had a chance to try a scenario where I have multiple co-existent bundles with common packages (all of which I author). But reading the code for DependencyExtension it is intended to be a feature where Burn reference counts a package across multiple bundles, as I understand it.
