It is annoying.

Maybe it is a bit crazy question, but is there any other window
around that area in other workspaces or in the other head? The Maximus
code ignores windows in other workspaces, but I am not sure if that is
also true for other workspaces in other heads. It would explain the 
threshold effect -- if that is the point where it starts to overlap 
that "other" window (when it overlaps, that window is ignored and 
maximuzation works as expected)

Right, lots of things to consider. But I was a bit happy to see the video
though, because it kinda works up to these details (which are worth
fixing!)

Yeah, thanks.
Right now I am reading that part of the code to try and fix it, but it may 
take some time, especially now that I have some other pressing stuff to do.
And even more especially if the first bug above has to do with xinerama :-(
