This a delicate point. What people consider "basic functionality" can
be discussed ad infinitum, and in the end I see little chances of
agreement.

For example, in my case I consider the "old" behavior of the Run dialog
to be the "basic functionality" you mentioned. Having anything more than
being able to run basic commands is not "basic" anymore, and can be done
better by proper applications. Sometimes a small fine tunning like in
this case can make wmaker a bit more efficient under some workflows etc,
but anyway.

What I think needs to be considered very carefully is what a _window manager_
has anything to do with these functionalities. If this is not done carefully
enough, we'll end up with not a window manager anymore, but a bloaty
"do everything" kind of thing.

I just want my window manager to manage my windows! :-)
