As there will probably still be some delay, can't we add the
debianization stuff to the repo now? Since I still do automatic
builds I really need a functional 'debian' folder. 

I know we've had this discussion here before. I think we *should*
keep these distro build files in the repo and make sure they
work in most environments, because this encourages building and
installing the code from the source - and that is what we all
want, don't we?
