considering the incubator status of Woden, I did of course the wrong
thing. In retrospective, I should have added the
m2-incubating-repository to the Axis POM's, posted the jar files
there, and use them within Axis 2.

I find it rather strange, that Axis 2 1.1 uses these jar files in its
distribution, but they should nevertheless be restricted to
ws.zones.apache.org?

There was some recent discussion about non-incubator projects
including incubating podlings on [EMAIL PROTECTED] There were some
good guidelines written here:

http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/incubator-general/200611.mbox/[EMAIL
PROTECTED]

in particular #14 might applies:

   (14) [non-incubating project] dependencies SHOULD NOT be [on]
incubating projects

(but can be!) ... Of course it is up to the Axis2 project whether to
use these guidelines. I believe the Axis2 support for WSDL 2.0 for
which Woden is the parser component is marked as limited anyway
(although I haven't checked this in the Axis2 docs - if it's not
described as such then it should be as the spec and Woden aren't
finished).

I'll contact the Maven developers mailing list. At the very least, I
am not supposed to remove artifacts. That applies, in particular, if
they are used by other artifacts, like those of Axis 2.

Great thanks for that.

Ok, after admitting that, let me ask a question: If these things are
considered so seriously, why are these jar files already used so
actively? IMO, this is targeted to cause trouble. And why is Woden
still in incubator status, after more than three years? I suggest that
you rather do your best to leave the incubator.

Hey 3 years! Woden was only accepted into Incubator in April 2005. OK
so 21 months is quite a long time so I think we should give it a try.

Jochen
