Hi I'm Dan Harvey the summer placement student that John has just emailed the list about. I'm working at IBM for the next 11 weeks and have been assigned to work with John for that time on the Woden project.
This is the first time I've worked for an open source project before but know how the community works, understands in its concepts and have used a lot of open source projects with other project I've worked on before. I'm quite confident at java and xml mostly from my university course, at Durham University, but have furthered this with my interest in computer science as a intrest and hobby. I am also quick to pickup new ideas so working on Woden should be a interesting and good experience. Out of this summer I'm hoping to get a feel what its like working on a larger project with a larger team than I have before, especially the style of the open source development model, and see what its like working as a software engineer full time.
