You Think You Know Your Friend

There is this question that not a lot of us would like to ask or have in mind but do not have the courage to ask it, or it could also be that a person have asked this from the wrong source… It may not be the ultimate question, but it is an important one… the question is… Who am I?

Have you ever asked yourself who you really are?  Have you tried asking your friends to tell you who you are or who they think you are?

Akala nyo malalim na tanong no… hahaha!  Akala nyo something out of this world?  Well, let’s see where this would bring us…

Usually, we look at people and we observe them so that we get to know them.  Others, we know them better because they are our friends… but do we truly know them?

Let me site some examples.

Richmond has a friend that he hangs out with sometimes… but it is enough for us to say that they do know each other.  Most of the time, Richmond would say that this person tends to cuddle or make babies out of his friends… minsan to the extent of spoiling them… but does Richmond really know why?  He never asked, ang hindi pala alam before ni Richmond was that his friend just miss his youngest sister who is in the states, kaya yung mga things na gusto sana nyang gawin for his sibling, nagagawa nya sa mga friends nya… Now that Richmond knows about that… well, sa kanilang dalawa na lang yon (AND IM SURE SA KANILANG DALAWA NA LANG YON).  Another story is with Dabs, he has this friend that he called a “wimp” over the phone just a few days ago… the reason why Dabs said that, because his friend refused to join him in rock climbing.  What Dabs did not know, is that his friend has a fear of heights and before, he had problems in trusting people (kahit na meron mag belay sa kanya while climbing the wall, he feels that he could not trust the person at the bottom)… well, that was resolved na before and they had a talk about trust issues… so I guess, it’s the fear of heights na lang.  There is this friend of Aya also that was judge in a different way… Aya thought that this friend would not know anything about washing the dishes, cleaning the table and other stuffs… but Aya then found out that  this friend owned a catering business before and a canteen which gave the experience of washing dishes, mopping the floor, etc.  There is this story also of Jun and his friend, Jun thought that his friend would not want to go to Mindoro with him for a vacation because there is no air-con there.  What Jun did not know then, his friend grew up without those comforts of life also.  They had an air-con at home but they seldom use it because the parents were saving money for their education.  All this were said because they knew each of their friends only from the time that they met.

Maybe we need to really have been there from the start, so that we would get to know the person more… ah NO!  Maybe, but not enough… let me put some stress on it by citing one last example.

I know of two brothers who grew up together and tried to get to know things about each other by hanging out with the same set of friends and going out together, even going to the same church and being part of the same LG… but in fact, they hardly knew each other.  They lived separate lives when they were young.  The younger brother does not even know that his brother worked for Mc Donalds before as a summer crew staff together with his barkada.  But that is fine, I was just stressing a point that even if we grow up with our friends, our relatives, our brothers and sisters… we still would not know them fully.

Then who should know us?  Who could we turn to, for us to know who we really are?

Ah!  That is God!  Our creator, Our Father!  He knows us inside and out… He knows our purpose, He is the one who has formed us in our mother’s womb, He knows our heart, He is the one who could tell us who we truly are.

Sit back and pray, pray to God that He would reveal to you who you truly are and what He wants you to do…

Cya!
