I don't think most people use PHP 5. Most web hosts I have researched
still use a stable version of PHP 4.x.x because PHP 5 has not been out
long enough.... just my 2c worth :))

No, we're not going to require 4.4 or 5. 4.3 for this release, and
then we'll see about further bumps down the line.
