Yeah, I know this is issues with IIS. That fix is what I had to apply to get
any version after 2.3.1 to install, and how I did an upgrade to get 2.5
installed.
Is this anything that can be added to core? I know most of the world uses
*nix/Apache to host their sites, but there are some of us that are using IIS
for one reason or another (the web design company I work for runs hosting
servers in IIS) and it's a pain to have to apply hacks every time a new version
comes out, or I need to set up another blog for a client, etc.
I guess I'm just asking if it's possible to add some of these IIS fixes out of
the box so those of us that do use it don't have to deal with issues.
BTW, I'm not much of a programmer, and am not sure what the repercussions of
that wp-db patch are, or if that's been changed in 2.5 at all.
I'm willing to help out with bug testing with IIS for any of these.

Even then there is lot of tutorials on Installing IIS in wordpress, my
advice would be stay away from IIS, you will continue to have lots of
problem. I was using IIS for almost decade, and the moment i started using
wordpress, i found the problems and finally i said good bye IIS.
