Andrew is correct. With things as you've described, this should be
recoverable. wp-admin and wp-includes should not have any changes in them.
They should exactly match what is in the downloads from wordpress.org.

And even if you have to freshen all of the WordPress 2.9.2 files from the
wordpress.org download, you should be fine. With a copy of the database and
an undamaged wp-content directory, you should be able to go back to where
you were at the start of this..


wp-content is what has all of your site's customizations. So just don't
delete it. :)
