I've not implemented because i'm also studying some more complex setup
(eg, nagios ;), but i think the better way to do that is install
NTSyslog:

        http://ntsyslog.sourceforge.net/

(clearly, with WPKG) and redirect all sysevents to a (pool of) syslog
server, and then process the data.
