G/O/O/G/L/E HITS Performance 01
2005

A 7-letter[*] word is randomly generated from the 26 letters of the English alphabet (A-Z). The word then becomes the object of a Google search via Matlab’s GHITS function. If there are no hits for the word, a new 7-letter random word is generated and searched as before. This process continues until a hit finally is achieved, at which point the search is halted and all past traces of failure and success are documented.

[*] The length of 7 letters per word is chosen based on the number of iterations it takes to find a hit. Everything above generally failed to find a hit after an inordinately large number of searches, whereas everything below generally seemed too trivial to be worth making the basis of a search, so 7 felt like a nice middle value.
