Yes, WSG membership is membership to the mailing list. The site is a bonus.

I'd really rather not split the lists as then we'll get a heap of people on
the general topics list and not so many on the help list and the people that
need help won't get it as readily. The same reason we don't want to go with
a forum.

BTW we found this kinda weird... wsgforum.com "The WSG Forum is dedicated to
providing a forum for the free and open exchange of information regarding
prostitution throughout the World." WSG being "World Sex Guide" in this
case. No on-list comments on this to add to the noise please and no, don't
bother going there.

This list has far less traffic than others like CSS-Discuss (I've been told,
I'm not a subscriber) so I believe you are still better off here.

Create a filter to whack the emails into a folder and read them at your
leisure (even mark them as read to take the pressure off) and just scan them
to see if you're interested. You don't have to do this manually from your
inbox and if you are doing it that way then it's worth the 5 minutes to set
up the filter. You can pretty well safely do it on the subject... Just match
[WSG] or "to" [EMAIL PROTECTED] or "from" [EMAIL PROTECTED]
or all three.

A few other hints:

* When thanking someone, please do it off list directly to the person. The
rest of us can assume that you were being courteous to us and did so (and
don't forget to thank people, it makes a huge difference next time you ask
for help).

* Keep the frivolous one-liners down to a minimum (not at all works for me).

* Read the other replies to a thread before answering as we double up on the
same thing all the time (and yes I'm guilty of this too and it can't always
be avoided).

* If you really don't know the answer, don't make guesses as someone else
will probably know.

Please don't be afraid to ask questions, even if you are a first time
poster, but please validate your code (both html and css if required) and
provide links to the files in question so we don't have to ask you to do
this. The validators will help debug a lot of issues.

If you don't understand the validator results, then please send us the link
to the results and we'll help you through that. We expect to have people
that don't understand things and you can bet that by helping you we'll also
help a lot of other lurkers that haven't yet worked up the courage to post.
There are some amazing talents/teachers on this list so please use them.

Finally, these emails are part of the noise factor. Please make these
suggestions directly to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and please don't reply to digest
posts without changing the subject line as it makes it easier to manually
filter out topics that members may not be interested in.

This will all help to keep the traffic down and on-topic. BTW Mordechai (not
that this post was in reply to you, it actually wasn't), if you only
received 40 posts in the last month then you're not getting all the posts. I
got 94 from the list yesterday (+ 146 bounces)... I'd check your spam
filters if I were you.
