I see what you mean (1280 x 1024) but don't know how to counteract this. I have the image set to " repeat-y" and the background colour set to "white" to blend in with the far right of the image. It looks like the image is repeating.

It may be worth your taking a look at the site with a reasonably high resolution set...some of the background images don't work so well (IMO) at high resolutions (eg 1280 x 1024)
