Bert - Specifying the height and width of the small images fixed the problem. Thanks!
Yeah, I know the home page shot is HUGE - Client demanded it after much effort on my behalf to talk him out of it. Win some, you lose some. I know I shouldn't spec font sizes in px, but I'm confused about the whole "em" thing. I need to do some reading about that as I do want my sites as accessible as possible. Thanks for the fix on the jumping text.
