Agreed, Geoff. We really do need to know more. We'll need to add this to
the hitlist for the WaSP Accessibility Task Force. It is something that
is of concern to all - I'll see about running some tests with a local
braille display user and see what I can determine from his tests...

See my previous post to Lisa. I think this actually needs a major article on ALA or somewhere where it gets a lot of exposure. Your blog would be okay too. I encourage you or Patrick to write something addressing this. Also need to address this issue of greying input fields (which indicates read only status).
