I'm sure there are a great deal of items that I don't mention 1. no inline styles or inline javascript. 2. get rid of all white space, inline comments etc in mark up, CSS, and js ( css can be reduced to one line for instance) 3. optimize all images and image sprites 4. also where possible use image sprites for background images instead of individual files 5. reduce http requests to the browser 6. call all javascript/jquery from the end of the file not the beginning 7. use cache
