There is some extra disk activity at the start of WSJT-X, it creates a 
temporary folder and copies some files there, this should only take a 
fraction of a second so I suspect something is not right about you 
system. Another possibility is that an anti-virus product is interfering 
in some way, which seems to be becoming more and more prevalent recently.

You could try disabling your anti-virus product before launch for a test 
run.

Another possibility is a very large number of unwanted files and folders 
in the Windows temporary folder.
