Hi Tom, I've copied the wsjt-devel list on this as Bill ( G4WJS ) may be able to address your question regarding the Audio anomaly. I've been on Linux all day with r4784 1.5-devel; using the Navigator interface, I've had ( 0 ) issues.
I'm glad JTSDK-NIX + KVASD-Installer worked for you on Mint-17. I don't use it at all, so it's nice to know things are working properly. As for the Desktop Shortcut, I'm not overly familiar with the Mate DE, even on Ubuntu, but the following may help: http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/tips-and-tricks-linux-mint-after-installation-mint-17-mate-edition.htm See Section: Add a Program Shortcut from the Mint Menu You do not need to perform the chmod command, as the WSJT-X binary is already executable.
