I'll confirm your information - I've not had a single similar episode since 
the first run was allowed to complete.  I admit that I was quick on the 
trigger to shut WSJT-X down when the "Decode" button stayed illuminated for 
longer than 10 seconds.  The first five stop-start cycles of WSJT-X were 
just that - I didn't allow enough time for the run to complete.

There's chatter regarding what to do in order that a new user won't panic 
when this occurs at first post-installation start-up.  I'd suggest that, if 
possible, have the analysis occur prior to the first decode being 
displayed, making it appear as though some process that is part of the 
application's start-up is still running.
