I prefer accuracy and wasn't suggesting your change was wrong. I was 
just suggesting that the range of the slider is now perhaps too little 
and that somewhere between 30dB and 60dB might be useful. -30dB is 
definitely usable on air as it is still quite loud audibly.

The adjusment via Qt and therefore the system levels is essential on 
Linux where the stream level gets reset to 100% after every transmission :(
