Morning Everyone,

As some of you may recall for the last few weeks I have been endeavouring to
get JTSDK and WSJTX / WSPR running using the PowerPC platform and Linux.

A very big thank to Greg and Bill for all of the help / encouragement.

Well the good news. I’ve managed to get all of the packages up and running
successfully on an iMac which uses a G5 (64 bit) PowerPC processor and Ubuntu
Mate 15.04.
Everything is working as expected and it all seems reasonable stable.

For my second challenge I decided to try compiling everything on a MacMini
which uses a G4 (32 bit) PowerPC processor and Lubuntu 14.04.

Initially everything went well, JTSDK is up and running as is WSPR, both
working perfectly.

WSJTX has presented me with an issue. It is up and running and receiving well.
As I type this I’m watching the audio being received in the Wide Graph
window and the program is decoding and displaying the incoming frames as
expected. I cannot however for the life of me get WSJTX to produce any audio or
go into transmit.

I’ve checked all of the hardware / linux configuration several times and it is
all working.

What I noticed about WSJTX is two things.

The date and time are incorrect. When launched the program shows 2015 Jun 17
01:23:45 and that never changes. And secondly and perhaps most importantly
for now, the Tx-Enable indicator is permanently set to “Tx-Enable Disarmed,”
with the progress bar set to the left of the display. Neither the title
“Tx-Enable Disarmed,” or
the progress bar ever change.

So far, no matter what I do, I cannot get WSJTX to produce an audio output.
I’ve tried monitoring it using Pavucontrol and there is no indication that the
program
is producing audio, at any stage, on the output.

Any thoughts, comments, insight, gratefully received.

Kind regards,

Sean.
