If you decide to implement the video solution I’d like to be able to control
the program with hand signals and facial expressions :)

If there were greater control over the runaway Tx watchdog I’d set it to 1 for
responding to CQ & 73, 6+ for CQ, and 3 for everything else. That would be my
ideal for HF use with JT-Alert when I’m generally doing something else at the
same time. The rationale is that if my reply to CQ isn’t answered, I’m not
going to call again unless I see another CQ (which JT-Alert will tell me about)
and usually a non-response is a reply to someone else, and that mid-QSO I’m
usually going to try 3 times before giving up. In fact I’m now in the habit of
disabling TX as soon as I reply to CQ to make sure I don’t forget about it.

So greater control over the watchdog would be very helpful IMO. One further
suggestion would be to replace the message box that pops up when the watchdog
is activated with an indicator on the main window that is cleared on the next
input from the operator, as the modified timer would have become more than just
a watchdog and be part of regular operating practice.

Chris

File/Settings General tab/Behavior Runaway Tx watchdog.

If enabled and you start a transmission and leave it running it will stop after
7 attempts right now. Without it enabled the transmission will run forever
until you manually stop it.

There was an earlier request to be able to change it to 2 or 3 for example.

I know there are times I'd like to do the same and others when I'm calling CQ
that I'd let it run longer.

The best solution would be to use video to see if you're still sitting in front
of your computer...but I doubt that's in the short-term plan :-)

What is the Watchdog limit and why would one wish to change it? Not trying
to be 'funny' by asking this, I genuinely do not know what it is.
