Revision 6841 compiles OK with Qt 5.5, but not with Qt 5.2. Perhaps
Bill will modify the new calls to QTimer::singleShot() so as to be
compatible with Qt 5.2; or perhaps we will decide that it's time to
insist on using Qt 5.5...
