Mea culpa I passed that information to Joe having misread the existing
text thinking that it was a list of rigs that do not support CAT QSY
commands while transmitting. The Yaesu FT-817/857/897(D) series do not
accept CAT QSY commands while transmitting (despite them allowing VFO
dial changes). I suspect the list of rigs not allowing CAT QSY while
transmitting is smaller than those that that do. As checking the "Allow
Tx frequency changes while transmitting" option with rigs that will not
comply will cause the software to malfunction, that list is probably the
more important one to have in the documentation.
The FT817 does not allow Doppler correction while transmitting. The
FT847 Satellite transceiver does allow frequency changes while
transmitting but I don't think other Yaesu transceivers such as the
FT-857 or FT-897 do although I have not tested these. Another issue
is that while some radios allow Doppler correction in 1 Hz steps
others such as the IC-735 are limited to 10 Hz steps. The IC-910-H
allows for 1 Hz steps. Perhaps an asterisk after Doppler tracking to
a note.
*Note: To gain the full benefit of Doppler tracking at low spreading
it is useful if your radio allows frequency changes under CAT control
in 1 Hz steps.
Agreed but the software does account for the rig frequency setting
resolution when doing Doppler tracking. Having said that I note that the
new FT-891 has 2Hz resolution which is, I believe, unique so I need to
enhance the resolution detection code to cope with that step.
