Hi Joe Agreed - there is no substitute for proper sequencing.
It might be a good idea to limit it to 0.5s. I was troubleshooting another problem (probably a slow to changeover WG relay at my QSO partner). Turned out he had TX delay at 0.2s so actually this wasn't the issue.
