Hi Pascal, glad you have a working solution and I understand the concern about a dormant utility. I expect that there are others available although maybe not for free. The requirement is pretty generic so a replacement may appear if an OS X update killed it. As for support for jack audio, as I implied above we use Qt to handle audio in a platform independent way and that is working well for us so I doubt we would abandon it for a different solution. You could try asking the Qt developers if they would consider an audio back end for whatever jack can speak to e..g. port audio.
