Thanks Bill and others for your input. 

I am seeing these spikes come and go in the IC7300 meters. I’ll locate an 
external SWR meter to see what I can view. I am using CAT control and I’ll 
double check but I am pretty sure this all happening on VFO A and not 
switching.

Are you using CAT control? Any chance the transceiver is directed to [VFO B]  a 
different frequency during the high SWR times?
