Many users in Australia are experiencing the following problem:
Band: 6mx and higher
Program: WSJT-X 1.8.0
Mode: FT8 (and others)
On 6mx many FT8 contacts are being made in our current E's season.
In the 1st contact after starting the program (with the NA contest mode
box NOT ticked)
a popup appears indicating the contact is over 4000km or there abouts
even though it is much less than that distance.
Until the popup is answered indicating NA contest mode is NOT wanted the
contact does not proceed.
Once it is answered the contact proceeds as normal.
This only occurs in the 1st contact in a session. If the program is
closed and later opened again the same popup occurs on the 1st contact.
The issue is that the logic used to calculate the contact distance is
failing. The message has no relevance outside NA and should not appear.
Often the popup is not seen and the contact will hang and eventually
timeout.
A fix would be greatly appreciated by many in VK and I dare say many
other areas.
