PS Would it be possible to retain rather than erase the waterfall image (the
blobs) when we toggle the Controls, please? I realize showing the controls
takes some space from the window so it’s no problem if removing the controls
leaves a blank area at the bottom where the controls used to be, but could the
blobs above remain on show?

One more UI suggestion: when we’re trying to identify blobs on the waterfall,
it’s not easy to figure out (at a glance) the exact audio frequencies since
most of the scale markers are unlabelled. I’d suggest changing from this …
… to something more like this …
I’ve deliberately chosen a smaller font size in light grey so the intermediate
values are less prominent than the round 500’s.
