Is it possible to not have to use split mode with a SDR like an Anan or a Flex-6000 series? The audio chain on my Flex-6700 is all digital, and I can set my receive bandwidth as high as 12kHz and the transmit as high as 10kHz on SSB digital (DIGU/DIGL). I wouldn't need to use "Fake it" or split.
