Then JTAlert (or whatever program) can display a message reminding people that they are in Hound mode (e.g. JTAlert could just put "Hound" in the first call slot for example).

Already seen quite a few that were switching about and not realizing they were in Hound mode.

The other way to do this would be for WSJT-X to do a popup when you change bands and are in Hound mode.  That's an easier solution and is more in-your-face.

Excellent suggestion.
Adding if WSJT-X is set to NA Contest mode would also be a worthwhile addition to the Status reporting message IMO.
