This sort of question has been discussed here many times. One of them
was earlier today.
WSJT-X faithfully remembers user settings on program exit and restart.
For many reasons it does not guarantee doing so after a user-initiated
change followed by a reverse change.
If you have more than one favored setups use the Configuration menu.
Make separate Configurations for "FT8" and "FT8 Hound" (say) ,
configured the way you like, and then switch between them by switching
Configurations.
