I run multiple instances all the time. I have configured separate
desktop shortcuts for each instance I want to run with unique
rig-name parameters on the command line.

At the moment I have only two instances running... one of 1.9.1 and
one of 2.0.0-rc5. But I sometimes have as many as five or six
instances running.
