I totally understand that the processing is handled by WSJT-X with user interaction.
It would be nice to know, with a status message when the user is transmitting, what they are transmitting. If they are calling “CQ” but the DX Call box hasn’t been cleared, I have no way of knowing this. So since the DX Call and DX Grid are loaded with old values ( I understand that a user can clear after a QSO, but for the users who don’t ) If you call “CQ” I don’t know this. I can only assume the user is in a QSO with the call in DX Call box, it’s the only information I have to go on. So in GridTracker I draw a Path from the users Grid to the DX Grid box value, which is invalid/incorrect. If I can know we’re calling CQ, i can clear my DX call and grid info, so I don’t draw incorrectly. Once we enter a QSO the DX Call box and grid will update and correct, but for the initial transmit , I don’t know whats happening. If i get a “QSOLogged” or “LoggedADIF” message, I know that the QSO is nearly over, but I don’t know at what stage. (we sending RR73 and done, RRR and waiting to send 73? ) If anything, a notification of the “TX #” in the auto-sequence would be handy but not the message itself. If it's TX 1 and DX Call box is loaded ..I know to draw to DX grid (if known). If it’s TX 4 or TX5 , I know I can stop drawing after transmit is over, if TX4 is RR73 that is, but i have no way of knowing. If it’s TX5 i know for sure. If it’s TX 6.. I know it’s a CQ and will not draw to DX Grid, but produce some other graphic in GridTracker to represent the CQ. If I could read “TX 6” message value. I can interrupt it as i do on decoded messages from WSJT-X: “CQ EU N0TTL CN84” I can draw a line from my grid to the center of Europe and outline Europe on the map. “CQ MT N0TTL CN84” Draw a line to Montana and outline it. “CQ F N0TTL CN84” Draw a line to prefix F… France and outline it. And in no way am I asking to SET the TX # in the auto-sequence nor any of it’s messages. I am NOT looking to, or want to enable any auto-responses Thanks for your time, I know you wanted details so there it is :) -Stephen / N0TTL
