A very good observation.
If possible, I would default to the rig selection from the Settings Window
-> Radio Tab -> Rig and then allow for an override.
The reason is that there are a lot of rig emulations around : SDRConsole
emulates a TS-2000, uBitx emulates a Yaesu FT-817, and so on ...

Would you want the ADIF log "MY_RIG" field to be populated from the Settings
Window -> Radio Tab -> Rig popup?
Or would you want a free-form text entry?
