Hi,

I think I am having a hamlib related bug/annoyance. So I have the Yaesu FT-450D and if the Mode is set to USB and the radio was originally on LSB, it does never switches the radio to the USB mode. However when mode is set to Data/Pkt, it always sets the mode correctly to USB/DATA on the radio. There is no reason to use USB Data mode on the FT-450D with FT8, since it has smaller bandwidth. Could have a look at this at some point? Thank you in advance.

Hi Lasse,

this appears to be a regression in Hamlib that has effected WSJT-X version 2.1.1 and 2.1.2. it is fixed for the next release, in the mean time you should be able to check the WSJT-X "Settings->Radio->Mode->None". You will have to set the rig's mode manually.

BTW there is a reason to use USB-DATA mode on your rig as it disables any equalization for the optimal flat transmit characteristics. The way Yaesu forces a narrow bandwidth for SSB-DATA modes is annoying but I recommend you still use them. The best solution is to check the WSJT-X option "Settings->Radio->Split Operating->Rig" along with "Settings->Radio->Mode->None". You can then select USB-DATA for the Tx VFO and USB for the Rx VFO, which gives the best option for each.
