I remember once having the same thing happen in v2.5.3, i.e. failure to answer/xmt a clicked on CQ with a similar two state abbreviation plus callsign and no grid. I do not remember what the states were, however. At the time, I just copied the callsign to DX call, clicked generate std msgs and caught the following tx cycle.
