I would recommend that WSJT-X save a dated copy of the file during the closing
of the Settings dialog where it checks for changes.So...if something changed
save the current config with YYYYMMDDHHMMSS which would end up showing when
the change took place

I am aware of what wsjt-x.ini looks like. My point was to have a log
file in plain words that accumulates each change in any of the settings
so that later on if something is acting up one could look at that file
to see what changes in settings might be causing a problem. That would
be as opposed to looking for RFI-induced problems, etc. One could try
manually to keep versions of wsjt-x.ini and "diff" for what the most
recent changes have been but the format of wsjt-x.ini does not lend
itself to obtaining useful results from diff.
And, I was not talking about trying to induce changes by manually
editing wsjt-x.ini and restarting WSJT-X.
