Dims, I'm not online with my devel system at the moment (will be tomorrow), but mostly these problems show up if somebody (Axis) tweaks the signed output by adding some blanks, newlines, etc.
Maybe some sort of pretty printing is switched on, or so? Some modifications during the input ptocessing at the server side? WSS4J explicitly uses a specific form to hand over the data it generated to Axis for furher processing (serializing).
